AF shows a repeatable rear-focus bias. Recommended AFMA range: −4 to −7. Re-test after adjustment.

Questions

Before you point a camera at a chart.

Do I need a special target?

No. The test workflow supplies the correct target and tells you whether to print it or display it on screen for that test.

Does this work with mirrorless cameras?

Yes, although the diagnostic questions differ. Traditional AF microadjustment is mainly relevant to DSLR phase-detect systems; mirrorless testing focuses more on optical performance and repeatability.

Why do you ask for multiple images?

Because a single image can be lucky or unlucky. A sequence lets us distinguish peak sharpness from focus consistency — often the more useful thing to know.

Can I compare two lenses?

Yes. Repeat the same controlled test and compare the distributions rather than relying on two cherry-picked frames.
